This is the Call for Entries information for the 2000 Georgie Awards. Projects and products that were built, renovated, developed, created and/or marketed between July 1 1999 and June 30, 2000 are eligible to enter.

INTERIOR DESIGN AND MERCHANDISING

17. Best Kitchen (New)

Criteria
Entry will be judged on careful and innovative detailing, functionality and utility of floor plan, special and unique design, and creative use of space.

Requirements

  • Entry Form.
  • Marketing Statement/Project Description - Should describe the kitchen and how it meets the criteria for this category (in no more than 150 words).
  • Six (6) 35mm colour slides of the following in triplicate:
    - 1 of kitchen eating area;
    - 1 of service area;
    - 4 slides of your choice.
  • One (1) 8"x10" glossy colour photo print.
  • Twelve (12) copies of kitchen layout on 8 1/2"x11" paper.
*Up to 2 companies will be recognized. Unless otherwise requested on the entry form, this award will be presented to the Builder and Architect/Designer.

18. Best Master Suite (New)

Criteria
Entry will be judged on careful and innovative detailing, functionality of floor plan, special and unique design, creative use of space, and comfortable atmosphere.

Requirements
  • Entry Form.
  • Marketing Statement/Project Description - Should describe the Master Suite and how it meets the criteria for this category (in no more than 150 words).
  • Six (6) 35mm colour horizontal slides of the following in triplicate:
    - 1 master suite (bedroom);
    - 1 master bath;
    - 4 slides of your choice.
  • One (1) 8"x10" glossy colour photo print.
  • Twelve (12) copies of master suite floor plan on 8 1/2"x11" paper.
*Up to 2 companies will be recognized. Unless otherwise requested on the entry form, this award will be presented to the Builder and Architect/Designer.

19. Best Room or Feature (New or Renovation)

Criteria
Entry will be judged on creativity and inspirational use of architectural features in a single unit which are not covered in other categories (i.e. home theatre, recreational facilities).

Requirements
  • Entry Form.
  • Marketing Statement/Project Description - Should describe the Room or Feature and how it meets the criteria for this category (in no more than 150 words).
  • Six (6) 35mm colour horizontal slides of the following in triplicate.
    If renovation:
    - 2 "before";
    - 4 "after"
    (clearly labelled "before" and "after").
  • One (1) 8"x10" glossy colour photo print.
  • If renovation: One (1) each of 5"x7" (before) and 8"x10" (after) glossy colour photo prints.
  • Twelve (12) copies of floor plan on 8 1/2" x 11" paper.
    (If renovation, clearly labelled "before" and "after".)
*Up to 2 companies will be recognized. Unless otherwise requested on the entry form, this award will be presented to the Builder/Renovator and Architect/Designer.

22. Best Interior Merchandising - Single Family
Eligible entries include show homes and renovation projects.

23. Best Interior Merchandising - Multi-Family
Eligible entries include townhouse, low-rise, high-rise and renovation projects.

24. Best Interior Design for a Custom Home or Renovation
Eligible entries include custom homes and renovation projects.

Criteria (Categories 20 - 22 inclusive)
Entries will be judged on concept, creativity, wall/window treatments, impact of furniture and accessories.

Requirements (Categories 20 - 22 inclusive)
  • Entry Form.
  • Marketing Statement/Project Description - Should describe the project and how it meets the criteria for its category (in no more than 150 words).
  • Six (6) 35mm colour horizontal slides in triplicate of the following (1 of each):
    If new construction:
    - living room;
    - dining room;
    - master bedroom;
    - kitchen/family room ;
    - 2 views of your choice.
    If renovation:
    - at least 1 "before" slide;
    - 4 "after" including: living room, dining room, master bedroom, kitchen/family room;
    - 1 slide of your choice.
    (Clearly labelled "before" and "after")
  • One (1) 8"x10" glossy colour photo print of living room area.
  • If renovation: One (1) each of 5"x7" (before) and 8"x10" (after) glossy colour photo prints of living room.
  • Twelve (12) collated sets on 8 1/2"x11" paper of:
    - floor plan indicating furniture placement and usage of space;
    (If renovation, clearly labelled "before" and "after");
    - budget.
*Up to 2 companies will be recognized. Unless otherwise requested on the entry form, this award will be presented to the Builder/Renovator and Interior Designer.
